The One Room Challenge WEEK 6...The Marathon is almost over!!!

This week was a lot of finishing details on the larger DIY projects that I did.
Taking up carpet was the most impacting of the space. I hate carpet..lol. No offense to you carpet lovers. Although I do love rugs!!

Want to see the previous weeks check it out!!

Loving my Wildfang coveralls

you can find them here

Trying to move furniture around in the space to put down plywood plank flooring was a little daunting especially when trying to paint the floors..but we did it!! This weeks goal was to complete the flooring in the guest quarters off of the bonus room and to paint the art on the walls.

( BTW...ceiling fan is going to disappear)

I wanted to do a large print wallpaper look alike. So happy with how it turned out. I drew it out on the wall in pencil first then started painting. This is the first coat. We did two coats and it looks great!!

I want to thank my employees and my friends that pitched in to help me finish. They know that I am crazy busy with my 8 clients YES 8!!! I'm finishing up the 8th project phase 1 this week. Starting a demo on Wednesday of a full kitchen, den, dining room, bathroom and front porch for one client. I am loving this One Room Challenge even though it is just that....a Challenge. For those of us that work full time we have to squeeze these projects in on weeknights and weekends which is proving to be exhausting....lol. Loving it nonetheless though...

Okay I digress....back to the project progress!!

While doing the floors in the guest quarters the wood supply was dwindling. I was getting nervous as I worked my way towards the window.

When I got to that area it was clear that I wasn't going to have enough wood, If you remember from Week 4 or if you don't you can check it out here , to cut the plywood in consistent 5 3/4" planks we had to make a jig. Well that jig is gone.

So I had to get creative. I took inventory of the wood that I had left and I had lots of pieces that were 23" and more scraps of various lengths.

I decided to do a herringbone pattern in the little inset area in front of the windows. It was a perfect place to add a little creative detail. It looks totally intentional and I love it. Don't panic when things don't go exactly as planned. Sometimes thats when the unexpected turns out better and better yet.... no one will know unless you tell them!!! Like I just did...lol

Here is a little sneak peek in one of the smaller projects that I started using brass shim stock. It is an un-lacquered brass that is super thin and it will cover almost

anything!!! Just a little adhesive and imagination is all that is needed...and shim stock if you can find it!!!

This coming week is going to be fun but very busy. I can't wait to show you all everything that has been done and a beautiful space that has transformed from my original mood board.

Follow along my story on Instagram here...I try and post a little everyday on my ORC Highlights.

Thank you for following along and please come back next week!!!
